Since 1958, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art has been the guiding force behind Art Fair on the Square, one of the top art fairs in the United States.

Art Fair on the Square brings nearly 500 artists to Madison's Capitol Square for two unforgettable days. In addition to exhilarating exhibits, the fair features superb live entertainment. The 54th Annual Art Fair on the Square takes place July 14-15, 2012 along with Art Fair off the Square, a collection of equally stellar work from local artists.

Music and dance has become a fixture at Art Fair on the Square for many years. In 2011, thirty groups and individuals entertained the crowds, including such popular out-of-town acts and hometown favorites as Ryan Mauer & The Angry Fix, The Full Watts, Tani Diakite and the Afro Funk Stars, Madison Contemporary Vision Dance Company, The Druthers, All That Jazz Big Band, The Big Strong Men, and Italian Folk Dancers of Madison.
