Events in Madison WI - The Farmscapes of Paul Seifert Exhibit
Wisconsin Historical Museum
Tuesday through Saturday
April 08, 2014 - August 30, 2014
9:00am - 4pm
See the brilliant watercolor collection of Paul Seifert, a German immigrant who came to Wisconsin and immersed himself in the beauty of the Wisconsin River Valley landscape. Seifert is most famous for his vibrant watercolor farm paintings that are highly desired by local and national art collectors. This exhibition is the first major exhibit of Seifert's art, so you will not want to miss this chance to see Paul Seifert's beloved watercolors of Wisconsin's landscapes.
Seifert's noted farm paintings depict bright colors of the countryside and farm structures of neighboring farms. Each clearly lettered with name of the farmstead owner. The paintings are made up of watercolors, oils, tempera, and sometimes metallic highlights on colored papers. The long horizontal strokes of the pieces emphasize the flat nature of the landscape and the remote self-sustainment of the individual farms.
Located only one block from the Best Western PLUS Inn on the Park, the Wisconsin Historical Museum is a renowned Madison institution that offers four floors of rotating exhibit galleries, permanent exhibitions and a museum gift store.
