Madison Food Carts
Food carts have long been a part of the downtown Madison lunch scene and as carts become more popular in other places around the country, Madison’s batch has been inspired to showcase a few new trends. The Capitol Square and Library Mall (on the other end of State Street) are home to several food carts serving up lunch during the week and on Saturdays during the Dane County Farmers Market. Many of these carts join with others from around downtown and converge on the Camp Randall area for home Badger games. Here are a couple ideas of carts to try…
There are few more universally loved foods that French fries and downtown Madison has its own food cart devoted to fresh fries with a range of dipping sauces. For now, this cart is right across the street from Inn on the Park so it makes a great place for a quick snack.
Madison is known for its array of ethnic restaurants and this diversity extends to the food carts around the Capitol Square. One of the more popular ethnic carts is Banzo which gets rave reviews for its Mediterranean fare. This cart seems to move around town more than others but is moving up to the Capitol Square in a few days. Be sure to check their website for up to the minute info on their location (banzomadison.com).
